The 50-point site check: what we look at on every visit.
The same categories we review on every site visit — so you know where you stand before an inspector decides for you. It tells you where to look. What to do about it is where we come in.
Documentation
- Whether risk assessments are current, and whether they describe this site
- Whether a fire risk assessment exists and when it was last reviewed
- Which substances are in use, and whether each has a COSHH assessment
- The date and signature on your health & safety policy
People
- What induction training staff have actually received, and the evidence for it
- First aid cover against the size and activity of the site
- Whether accidents and near-misses are being recorded — and whether anyone reads them
- Who holds which H&S responsibility, and whether they know it
Premises
- Escape routes, exit signage, and whether anything is stored in front of them
- Fire alarm and emergency lighting test records
- Inspection and test records for portable equipment
- Whether an asbestos register exists for pre-2000 buildings
Operations
- How contractors are inducted, supervised, and signed off on site
- Whether lone working happens, and whether anything covers it
- Which tasks involve manual handling, and what has been assessed
- Plant, chemical stores, and pool areas — access control and record keeping
That's a sample of four categories. The full 50-point site check is a PDF — enter your email below and we'll send it over.
